Tennessee State Association, Nov. 12-14, Pigeon Forge

On November 12 – 14, 2012 the state association will celebrate 75 years as an organized and united body. The 75th session will meet once again at the Mainstay Suites and Convention Center in Pigeon Forge beginning Monday evening at 7 PM. The Executive Committee has chosen the theme “Ancient Words” and invited back former promotional directors to compliment the special occasion. The men will speak in the order in which they served. John Gibbs, Tennessee’s first full-time director (1974-78) will open with the keynote service on Monday evening. John has been in the ministry for 53 years serving as a pastor, full-time evangelist, denominational executive, etc. He is presently serving as pastor of the First FWB Church in Gastonia, NC.

On Tuesday morning, Tennessee’s able moderator Randy Riggs, pastor of the Good Springs Church in Pleasant View will bring a challenge before the first business session. Wallace Hayes (1978-82) will preach for the main morning service. Rev. Hayes has been active in Tennessee ministry for over 52 years as a pastor and various other ministry positions. He presently works with the Cumberland Camp program and teaches two classes at the Donelson Fellowship.

On Tuesday evening, Dr. Charles Thigpen will be bringing the message. Dr. Thigpen came to the promotional office after 10 years of service from the late Rev. Raymond Riggs (1982-91). After several years as a pastor and 40 years at Free Will Baptist Bible College (12 years as president) Dr. Thigpen gave almost 15 years of full-time service for part-time pay (1992-2006). Upon his leaving at the end of 2006, Glenn Poston has filled the position until the present time. Rev. Poston, active in full-time ministry for almost 40 years will preach on Wednesday morning just before the closing business session.
