The Tennessee State Association of Free Will Baptists met in Pigeon Forge for three days of celebrating 75 years as an organized body. The meeting was marked by wonderful fellowship, good music and solid Biblical preaching as the moderator, the former promotional directors and the present one, developed the theme "Ancient Words" based on Psalms 119. Delegates enjoyed music by Rejoice from Welch College, Doug Little, Ann Thigpen, and a melody of songs by Jacob Frady and Chad Kivette. Welch College hosted a dessert bar on Monday evening, Tennessee International Missions a buffet lunch on Tuesday, and on Tuesday evening a reception was hosted by Master’s Men and Women Active for Christ.
Business sessions led by moderator Randy Riggs went very smoothly as delegates heard reports from the promotional director, the treasurer and each of the Tennessee Boards. Several new board members were elected including: Jeff Nickols (Executive Committee), Dwayne James and Ed Maynard (Home Missions), Lynn Neas (International Missions), Jon Justice and Ken Kirby (Family Ministries). Greetings were given by all nine national departments. The body passed resolutions standing firm on our belief that marriage is between a man and a woman, and asking our churches to have a pastor’s appreciation day each year in October, a special love offering each December for the promotional director and praising the good job of the Tennessee 75th anniversary committee.
The entire meeting was characterized by a sweet spirit and great unity. The next state meeting will be held again in Pigeon Forge on November 11-13, 2013.
