FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Greeneville, Tennessee, Sept. 13th, 2018 – We are excited to announce that the Board of Directors has prayerfully and carefully chosen Jim McComas as the next Chief Executive Officer of Free Will Baptist Family Ministries.
Jim was born and raised in Northeast Ohio. He accepted Christ at the age of six, and surrendered to the call to the ministry at the early age of nine. He pastored Canaan Free Will Baptist Church in Creston, Ohio for twenty-one years, during which time he led them through a complete relocation of their campus while the church enjoyed steady and consistent growth. During his ministry in Ohio, Jim was very involved in the community as well as the denomination, serving for many years on the Board of Directors of both the Wayne County Pregnancy Care Center and the Ohio State Association of Free Will Baptists.
For the past nearly five years, Jim has worked for our denomination as Director of Church Revitalization for Free Will Baptist North American Ministries. In this position, Jim has traveled literally across the country singing, teaching, and preaching in hundreds of Free Will Baptist Churches.
Jim has been married to his wife Beth for twenty-six years. They have two sons, Matthew and Aaron. (Aaron attends college in Nashville where he is pursuing a double major in political science and business administration. Matthew tragically passed away in 2017 at the age of twenty-three.)
Family Ministries Board Chairman Noah Taylor states “We look forward to welcoming Bro. Jim and his wife Beth to the Family Ministries team. We are confident that his vision, leadership, and ability to connect with churches and leaders nationwide will be a great asset to Family Ministries for many years to come. We are excited about the future and what God has in store for Free Will Baptist Family Ministries.”
Rev. McComas commented “Beth and I are honored beyond words to have been offered this tremendous opportunity. Both as a Pastor and as a family, we have been supporters and fans of Family Ministries for many, many years. We are excited to build upon the great work that this ministry has done in the past, and believe that God has even greater things in store in the future. I have long said that Free Will Baptist Family Ministries is the best kept secret in our denomination, and I look forward to sharing its good work with friends across this country.”
Jim’s formal introduction as CEO will come at the Tennessee State meeting in November. Jim will be fulfilling his obligations with North American Ministries over the next couple months, and then he and Beth will begin to make the transition to East Tennessee. Please continue to pray for them and the ministry during this exciting time.
