International Missions Board Takes Action

The Free Will Baptists International Missions Board met in Nashville December 9 – 10, 2010 with all board members present. Board members are giving an all out effort to keep missionaries on the field. The board continues to grapple with the current economic environment and the toll it is taking on the missions agency. Two members of the stateside office staff, Charolette Tallent and Lori McCraney, will be leaving by the end of January due to the rising deficit and budget cutting measures. Other actions were taken to reduce the shortfall as well.

Barry Simpson, Director of Development submitted his resignation to the board citing his disappointment with the denomination’s failure to fully embrace the new funding plan. He further stated that he did not feel he was the man who could bring about the denominational unity needed for the plan to succeed.

A complete report of the board’s actions can be read on the mission’s website (www.fwbgo.com).
